Hello everyone!
We are a group of 4 biology students, who were tasked with creating a project for the
upcoming World Ocean Day!
The problem that we chose as the heart of our project is that of the extinction of aquatic
biodiversity, through overfishing or intensive breeding.

In 2022, France produced around 680,000 tonnes of fish and seafood, 200,500 of them
come from aquaculture production. Generally, the fishes found in aquaculture are : salmon,
trout, seabass, sturgeon…

According to a new study which re-assessed the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
extinction risk status, more than one-third of all sharks, rays, and chimaeras, which are
fishes related to sharks and rays, are now at risk of extinction because of overfishing.
If you would like to read more about the risks associated with overfishing, WWF has a
awesome website where they present with great precision.
Also, on average, in France almost 35 kilograms of fish and seafood are consumed per year and per capita.
That is why we decided to create a website and a YouTube channel where we show you
delicious meals, each with 2 alternatives, a vegetarian version and a fish version. The fish
options we give you are fishes that are not endangered, and aren’t a product of intensive
farming. We also promote healthy, local, fresh and environmentally friendly products.
So, welcome to C.R.A.B friendly! Where WE show YOU how to Cook Responsibly for
Aquatic Biodiversity!
